Students
Our students work together to give back to our community and beyond. Our students are very empathetic and always wanting to help others. They annually coordinate a food drive to support our local food bank, and raised over $2000 for the Terry Fox Run this year. Students in all grades have the opportunity to become members of the student council, and those in our intermediate grades are now attempting to introduce initiatives in the school that foster more Student Voice. Students at Fielding are well known in the community and throughout the OCDSB for their sense of citizenship, and the very high expectations they have for themselves in terms of academic achievement.
Staff
Our staff members have a wealth of professional qualifications including specialized Bachelor and Masters degrees. Our staff is continuously participating in professional development with the OCDSB and through a collegial learning environment. Our staff members work very hard to provide an engaging environment throughout the year for our students by offering over 20 different sports, intramural activities, clubs and festivals to join. The efforts of our staff are highly recognized by the students, parents, administration and community.
Parents/Guardians/Volunteers
Volunteerism is critical to enriching lives of all our students. Fielding has a very committed group of parents, guardians and community members that regularly give their time and effort to support our pupils. The School Council and its members ensure that the voice of the community is reflected in school decisions and initiatives. The Council also generates additional funds to support student learning. All parents are welcome and encouraged to become members of the Council, or to volunteer at the school. Their expertise and skills help us to provide a safe and caring environment in which all students can excel.
Community
The Fielding community is both generous and committed to all our students. They support all our school events, and ensure that the students have a strong sense of belonging. It is this sense of community that allows us to integrate Character Education into the daily lives of our students, and make sure that they feel safe and supported in reaching their goals.
